Saturday night was not a night to be spending alone, riding a bus through southwest London. But had he been anywhere else, he woulnd't have seen her. She came out of The Stargazey on the Fulham Road, pulling up the collar of her fur coat against the cold November evening. He was drawn to her; he couldn't help but follow her. Twelve hours later the body of a young woman is found in the grounds of Fulham Palace and Superintendent Richard Jury is faced with the embarrassing task of explaining his rather detailed knowledge of her las movements. But when a visit to the morgue reveals that the fur coat in question seems to have come into the possession of an entirely different woman, Jury has some questions of his own.
